Marine & Aquatic Practices(Semester Elective)
|
The Marine & Aquatic Practices elective focuses on developing skills required in Year 11 & 12 for the ATAR General Marine and the Non-ATAR Applied Aquatic Practices courses. It is an interdisciplinary science which draws upon Biology, Chemistry and Earth Sciences.
Marine:
- Focuses on marine environments and the consequences of human influences on ocean resources.
- Skill development involving data collection and interpretation.
Aquatic Practices:
- Provides opportunities for students to explore, experience and learn skills and knowledge valued in aquatic workplaces and other settings.

Physics(Semester Elective)
|
The Physics elective focuses on developing skills required for the Year 11 & 12 Physics course. Topics include explaining how energy transfers and transformations occur within systems and predicting the motion of objects using the laws of physics.
Specific attention is given to the development of science inquiry skills. In addition to learning how to use common scientific apparatus, students are required to gather, represent and analyze numerical data to identify the evidence that forms the basis of scientific arguments, claims or conclusions. In gathering and recording numerical data, students are required to make measurements using appropriate units to an appropriate degree of accuracy.
