Thank you for your interest in Good Samaritan Catholic College for your child's education.
We are an inclusive and faith-filled community, inspired by the Good Samaritan and Benedictine tradition. Our journey together is shaped by values such as compassion, hospitality, justice, stewardship, balance, prayer, peace and a deep commitment to community.
Our community strives to nurture every student in an environment where faith, learning, and service come together – encouraging them to grow as people of hope, integrity, and purpose.
Enrolment at the College follows Brisbane Catholic Education (BCE) policy, with places offered according to clear priorities and the availability of positions.
Enrolment Priorities
A process of discernment regarding the offer of enrolment places will be undertaken by the College following receipt of an enrolment application. Based on availability of positions, each application will be assessed on its merit with priority normally given to:
- Catholic students and applicants from Catholic families who demonstrate an active commitment to the faith within their parish community
- Siblings of current or graduated students of the College
- Siblings transferring from other BCE Catholic primary or secondary schools
- Students from other Catholic schools or Catholic Early EdCare services
- Applicants from other or no faith traditions who are willing to support the values, ethos and life of the College
Within each priority group, consideration may also be given to students who display strong commitment to learning service, leadership, or excellence in a combination of academic, sporting or cultural areas.
Additional considerations include:
- The student's educational and behavioural history
- The parent/caregiver's commitment to support College policies and processes
- The parent/caregiver's commitment to meeting the payment of the College school fees and levies
While applicants who are current students of another Catholic primary or secondary school will normally be given priority, enrolment is not automatic or guaranteed, especially where availability of places and the above priorities must be taken into account.
Other Considerations
- Commitment to Safeguarding – BCE and the College are committed to providing a safe and respectful environment for every student. Enrolment decisions take account of safeguarding responsibilities and risk-management obligations, consistent with the National Catholic Safeguarding Standards.
- Students with Disability and Additional Needs – The College and BCE welcome students from diverse backgrounds and with diverse needs, in keeping with relevant legislation (e.g. Disability Discrimination Act, Anti-Discrimination Act) and BCE's Student Diversity and Inclusion Policy. Where a student has a disability or requires significant adjustments, the College will consult with parents/guardians to identify reasonable supports, plan a smooth transition and ensure participation on the same basis as other students.
- Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Students – The College warmly welcomes Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students and families. Their cultural heritage, stories and connection to Country are respected and celebrated in every aspect of College life.
The College maintains the right to reserve enrolment places for Catholic families new to the area.
Enrolment decisions are made by the Principal in accordance with this policy, and various other Brisbane Catholic Education policies. Special circumstances will be considered on an individual basis at the discretion of the Principal.
Non-disclosure of any information relevant to the application for enrolment may result in discontinuation of the enrolment process or withdrawal of a student's enrolment.
