Secondary Teacher, Michael Angus, Honoured at Brisbane Catholic Education Excellence Awards

The Good Samaritan Catholic College community is celebrating today after their Secondary Teacher, Michael Angus, was awarded a commendation for the ACU Award for Excellence as an Early Career Teacher in Secondary School at the Brisbane Catholic Education (BCE) Excellence Awards event on Friday, 15th August.

The awards recognise the achievements of BCE staff, and the impact of the innovative programs of work underway to support and nurture our students to reach their potential. In 2025, 478 nominations were received from across BCE's system of 146 schools.

Good Samaritan Catholic College's Principal, Lee Elvy said the award was well-deserved for Michael Angus's tireless dedication to the students and staff at Good Samaritan. “We're incredibly proud of Mr Michael Angus, whose outstanding work as a graduate teacher is making a huge impact at Good Samaritan Catholic College. From lifting student outcomes in the classroom to leading our elite football and futsal programs, Michael lives out our college priorities of care, connection, and excellence every day. His leadership and passion inspire our students, staff, and wider community" he said.

Brisbane Catholic Education Executive Director Dr Sally Towns congratulated all the winners and nominees and thanked them for their contributions to their school communities. “The BCE Excellence Awards are one way we celebrate the extraordinary individuals and teams whose dedication brings our shared vision to life," Dr Towns said.

“Your commitment inspires us daily as a faith-filled learning community, creating a better and more hope-filled future through your unwavering commitment and service."

“Good Samaritan Catholic College is a vibrant, faith-filled community where every student is known, valued, and challenged to thrive — in the classroom, on the sporting field, in the arts, and their life in community. Grounded in the Benedictine and Good Samaritan traditions, our college nurtures compassion, character, connection, and the pursuit of excellence." Mr Elvy said.
